TITLE
Recommendation to request City Attorney to draft an ordinance requiring temporary signs affecting public parking spaces and right of ways to include information regarding the purpose of the project, duration of the project, lead agency, contact name and contact number.
DISCUSSION
Many neighborhoods in the City of Long Beach are parking and traffic impacted. Any parking spaces or public right of ways that are taken from residents and businesses for temporary projects should contain sufficient information on the temporary signs to allow individuals to understand the project and contact the lead agency.
When sufficient information is placed on signs regarding the type of project, duration of the project, lead agency, contact name and contact number, individuals affected by the removal of parking spaces or public right of ways have an opportunity to better understand the benefits arising from the inconvenience; have an outlet to voice their concern, and make suggestions regarding reducing the impact of the inconvenience.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
