TITLE
Recommendation to receive information regarding a possible amendment to the City Charter creating an Office of Inspector General at the Long Beach Unified School District.
DISCUSSION
The Long Beach City Charter (Article XXII) defines the powers, duties and the election of the members of the Board of Education for the Long Beach Unified School District. Members of the public have expressed some interest in creating an Office of an Inspector General (OIG) modeled after the Los Angeles Unified School District. I would like to take this opportunity to transmit information regarding the functions and responsibilities of an Inspector General for the City Council's consideration for a possible Charter Amendment.
