DISCUSSION
City Council approval is being requested to enter into a contract for the purchase of one Pot Hole Patch Truck with the option to purchase a second Pot Hole Patch Truck for the Department of Public Works, Street Maintenance Division.

In an effort to continue improving the condition of the city streets, there is a need for a Pot Hole Patch Truck, to deal with the current and anticipated backlog of pothole repairs citywide. This purchase is an addition to the fleet and was approved by the Fleet Review Committee on September 21, 2006.

The City Charter provides an alternative procurement method by permitting the City to purchase or otherwise obtain services, supplies, materials, equipment and labor with other governmental agencies by purchasing under their contracts on a voluntary and selective basis when authorized by a Resolution of the City Council.

The Department of Public Works, Fleet Services Bureau, investigated procurement options and learned that the County of San Bernardino had completed a competitive bid process for a Pot Hole Patch Truck and has a purchase order with Haaker Equipment Co. that meets the City's needs. This cooperative purchase agreement will facilitate the timely acquisition of the Pot Hole Patch Truck and provide cost benefits to the City.
