TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution in support of full funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

DISCUSSION
As you know, for over thirty years the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program has been a critical program for cities and counties across the country in providing funding and tools to create jobs, increase economic development opportunities and expand homeownership.

The President's FY 2007 budget proposes to reduce CDBG formula grants by $1 billion, or 25 percent. At a time when city budgets are severely challenged, this cut will have a devastating impact on local government's ability to provide resources to those communities and neighborhoods most in need.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
