TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report from City Manager on cost estimates and potential financing strategies for each of the potential alternatives for Long Beach Airport improvements.
DISCUSSION
On December 20, 2005, the City Council asked the City Manager to report back to the Council in 45 days with a report outlining the cost estimate of each potential alternative considered in the Airport improvements EIR, including the no build option.
Under the same agenda item, the Council also asked the City Manager to report back in 60 days with a report on potential financing strategies for each option that would not encumber the City for future debt obligations.
The City Manager subsequently indicated that information would be available by the end of March.
With the Final EIR expected to be released in only three weeks, it is important to keep the process moving by addressing the interrelated issues in a timely manner.
Therefore, we are requesting the City Manager to provide a report at the April 4 City Council meeting on the information requested by the City Council in its December 20,2005 action.
