TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Il Padrino Restaurant located at 200-B Pine Avenue.  (District 2)

DISCUSSION
The owner of the II Padrino Restaurant located at 200-B Pine Avenue requests a permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk for the purpose of sidewalk dining. This space was previously occupied by the Pasta Presto restaurant and the permit area has not changed. The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code which describes temporary use of public right-of-way. The width of the public sidewalk at this location is 16 feet. A minimum clearance of 6 feet shall be maintained between the proposed permit area and the street tree adjacent to the restaurant.

This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on December 2, 2005. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten on December 27,2005.
