DISCUSSION
The duty of the City Clerk is to obtain experienced personnel to assist in the conduct of the election. Martin & Chapman Co. has for many years assisted California cities and counties in the conduct of elections, by providing the necessary specialized election supplies, professional printing and consultant services. The company has assisted the conduct of Long Beach municipal elections since 1960.
 
Pursuant to Section 1909 of the City Charter, the City Clerk has selected Martin & Chapman Co. to provide services and supplies to assure that the election will be conducted in a timely manner and within the requirements of law.
 
FISCAL IMPACT
Martin & Chapman Co. has estimated their services and supplies for the Primary Nominating Election to be held on April 11 , 2006 to be $706,199.44 and the General Municipal Election to be held on June 6,2006 to be $494,356.79. Funds have been budgeted for this service.
 
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
