TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at La Creperie Café located at 4911 East Second Street.  (District 3)

DISCUSSION
The restaurant at 4911 East Second Street has undergone a change in ownership and will be renamed the "La Creperie Cafe (previously named "Vie De France"). The owner
requests a new permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk for the
purpose of sidewalk dining. The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and
accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A.
Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the
Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary uses of public right-of-way.
The width of the sidewalk at this location is 13.5 feet and a minimum clearance of 5 feet
shall be maintained along the entire frontage of the permit area. This permit application
was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on August 2,2005.
The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten on
November 2,2005.
