TITLE
Recommendation to authorize the issuance of a refund check in the amount of $5,186.20 to Pacific Ford, Inc.
DISCUSSION
Pacific Ford, Inc. issued a check to the City of Lakewood in the amount of $5,186.20. On August 1, 2005, Pacific Ford inadvertently sent that check together with its regular lease payment to the City of Long Beach. On October 11, 2005, Pacific Ford, Inc., contacted the Department of Financial Management requesting the refund of $5,1 86.20 for the erroneous payment.
City of Long Beach Municipal Code Section 3.48.040 (C), requires that a refund exceeding $5,000 be approved by the City Attorney and the City Council.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Richard F. Anthony on November 14, 2005 and Budget Management Officer David Wodynski on November 11 , 2005.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on November 22, 2005 to avoid further delay in processing the
refund.
FISCAL IMPACT
The refund will be made from funds deposited in the General Fund (GP). Because this refund is for an amount that was not due to the City, there is no net fiscal impact.

Approve recommendation.
