TITLE

DISCUSSION
The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (County) has filed an application for Facility/Pipeline Permit Supplement No. S-3-05, under existing Facility/Pipeline Permit No. P-11-50, to install 1,647 feet of 2-inch PVC communications conduits for the County's Alamitos Seawater Barrier Telemetry System. These communications conduits will allow the County to remotely monitor underground water conditions and levels through existing observation wells and allow the operation of existing injection wells. The system will enable the County to more efficiently use water injection to keep seawater away from the underground drinking water supply.

The conduit will begin in Silvera Avenue just south of 7'h Street, then go southerly to 6th Street, then westerly in 6th Street to end at a point west of Margo Avenue. The route of the proposed conduits is shown on the attached vicinity map.

The Department of Public Works has reviewed the application and found the proposed conduits to be compatible with existing installations and not an obstacle to any street use excavation permit. The County, because it is a governmental agency, is not required by the Long Beach Municipal Code to file a bond or public liability insurance for this permit supplement.
