TITLE
Recommendation to adopt Plans and Specifications No. R-6588 for the improvement of Clark Avenue between Spring Street and Wardlow Road; and authorize City Manager to award the contract to Palp, Inc., dba Excel Paving Company, in an estimated amount of $556,405 and execute all necessary documents related to the contract. (District 5)
DISCUSSION
The pavement on Clark Avenue between Spring Street and Wardlow Road is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work consists of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, trimming and root pruning trees, cold milling, resurfacing the pavement and installing new pavement markings. City Council adoption of the plans and specifications and award of contract to the lowest
responsible bidder are being recommended concurrently to expedite the project implementation. The project was advertised for bids on May 13, 2005, and bids were opened on June 8, 2005. Information regarding the bid and Palp, Inc., doing business
as Excel Paving Company, is available on the attached contract awards document.
This matter was reviewed by Senior Deputy City Attorney Donna F. Gwin on June 15, 2005, and Budget Management Officer David Wodynski on June 22, 2005. In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption Number CEP-592-02 has been issued for this project.
