TITLE
Recommendation to request City Attorney to prepare an ordinance amending Section 2.57.020 of Long Beach Municipal Code to state that members of the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission be at least fifty years of age.

DISCUSSION
The Senior Citizen Advisory Commission advises the Mayor, City Council and city departments on matters pertaining to older Americans and their needs. The Municipal Code specifies certain requirements for members of the Senior
Citizen Advisory Commission, including that they shall be at least fifty-five years of age. However, Long Beach's senior centers and programs are open to residents fifty years of age or older. In order to be consistent with the senior services offered by our city, I request that the minimum age to serve on the commission be lowered to fifty.
