TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report from Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride regarding the financial impact of the Pride Festival and Parade on Long Beach.
DISCUSSION
Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride, Inc. (LBLGP , Inc. ) was established in October
1983 and produced the first annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival &
Parade in June of 1984. This year, we will be celebrating the 22 Annual Pride
Festival , which has become one of the largest annual events in Long Beach.
In addition , the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival & Parade is well known
throughout the region because it has grown into the 3 largest Pride festival in
the U. S. Annually, it attracts over 125 000 participants over the two-day
celebration.
The Pride Festival & Parade have a significant economic impact on our city. The
organizers have commissioned a study to document those economic impacts
and they are here to give a brief report on that study.
