TITLE
Recommendation to cancel scheduled public hearing for the vacation of portions of public right-of-way south of Sixth Street and west of Roycroft Avenue.  (District 3)

DISCUSSION
The owner of a 1,134-square foot vacant lot on Sixth Street opposite Quincy Avenue had petitioned the City to vacate the unimproved public rights-of-way adjacent to his property for the purposes of constructing a single-family house on the assembled property. On April 5, 2005, the City Council adopted Resolution No. RES-05-0016 declaring its intention to vacate the subject rights-of-way, and set May 3,2005, as the date for the public hearing. The public hearing was then continued to July 5, 2005. In response to community opposition to the proposed construction, the vacation petitioner has withdrawn his request. Therefore, it is appropriate to cancel the public hearing and take no further action on this matter.
