Recommendation to authorize agreement between City of Long Beach and the Law Firm of Nixon Peabody LLP, to assist City Attorney in connection with implementation of "cold ironing" and other energy matters.
 
 
DISCUSSION
The City Attorney currently has the need for attorneys specialized in state regulatory energy issues to assist with the implementation of "cold ironing," and other energy matters. The law firm of Nixon Peabody LLP possesses this expertise.
This firm may also be consulted from time to time on other energy matters. "Cold ironing" involves the use of shoreside electrical power in order to reduce ship emissions.
Expenditures under this agreement shall not exceed One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) unless additional funds are authorized by the Board of Harbor Commissioners. All expenditures shall be paid from the Harbor Revenue Fund.
