DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract for services pertinent to the maintenance and management of environmentally sensitive areas, including Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve, Jack Dunster Marine Biological Reserve, Colorado Lagoon, Rainbow Lagoon, Sims Pond, the Colorado Lagoon-adjacent Pacific and Electric Right-of-way (PE ROW) greenbelt, and debris control at Catalina Landing and Rainbow Harbor. Services provided through this contract will include:
. Environmental consulting
. Ecological site management
. Habitat maintenance
A Request for Proposal (RFP) process was conducted in accordance with Administrative Regulation 8-4, “Selecting Professional Consultants,” to secure professional services. On January 8, 2005, 72 potential companies specializing in
environmental consulting .and maintenance were notified of the RFP; seven are Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE), five are Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE), and three are Long Beach businesses. The proposal was made
available from the Purchasing Division located on the Plaza Level of City Hall and the Division’s website at www.lbmrchasinn.orq. An announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities sent to 32 local, minority, and women’s groups. Seven proposals were submitted prior to the deadline ,
