TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City to execute an agreement with the firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Schreck, in order to provide legal services in connection with the City's proposed development of a new Civic Center.

DISCUSSION
In December of 2013, the City Attorney's Office issued a purchase order for legal services to Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Schreck ("Brownstein Hyatt"), pursuant to which Brownstein Hyatt has assisted the City with preparation and issuance of the Request for Proposals for the development of the new Civic Center, preparation of draft project agreements and provision of general counsel and analysis with respect to public private partnership procurement structures. On December 3, 2013, the City Council informally approved of an initial outside legal budget not to exceed $450,000. The City Council is now requested to formally authorize the City to execute an agreement with the firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Schreck for a total amount not to exceed $450,000, in order that they may continue to represent the City's interest in the above-described matter.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Respectfully Submitted,
