TITLE
Recommendation to determine that the application serves the public convenience and necessity, and receive and file the application of Walgreens Company, dba Walgreens, for an original Alcoholic Beverage Control License, at 3339 East Anaheim Street. (District 4)
DISCUSSION
It is City Council policy to review applications for Alcoholic Beverage Control licenses to determine if a basis for protest against the issuance of the license exists. The attached application lists the possible bases for protest.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) received the above application on February 4, 2010. The ABC application was agenized for the City Council meeting of March 23, 2010, but was withdrawn from the Council agenda because the applicant had not received approval for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP). On April 19, 2012, the Planning Commission approved the CUP and there was no appeal filed during the 10-day appeal period that followed.
