Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $7,500 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Theresa Mitchell v. COLB, et al.
DISCUSSION
Plaintiff claims she was injured when she was walking and tripped and fell on a sidewalk displacement near a utility vault manhole cover.
Plaintiff was treated by an orthopedic surgeon and eventually underwent left ankle surgery incurring about $20,000 in medical bills and out of pocket expenses.
Plaintiff has agreed to settle this claim for $7,500. The proposed settlement was presented to the Economic Development and Finance Committee on September 4, 2012 and was approved on that date. We therefore ask authority to pay the sum of $7,500 in full settlement of this claim against the City of Long Beach.
