TITLE

DISCUSSION
This is an alleged racial discrimination lawsuit in which plaintiff claims she was denied a promotional opportunity because of her race. In addition, plaintiff alleged that a supervisor sexually harassed her in the work place.

The case was ordered to mediation but did not settle. During subsequent settlement discussions, plaintiff agreed to accept $15,000.00 as full settlement of this case, subject to City Council approval. The City Attorney’s Office agrees with the mediator and believes that the evidence supports a settlement in this amount.

The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement n August 7, 2012.

This lawsuit arises out of an accident in which a Long Beach Police Department vehicle collided with plaintiff, a pedestrian, resulting in injuries.

In light of probably liability, plaintiff agreed to accept $6,000.00 as full settlement of this case, subject to City Council approval.

The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on August 7, 2012.

A subrogation case arose from an auto accident on August 10, 2010, on the 405 Freeway near Bushard Street in Fountain Valley, involving a City vehicle driven by a Fire Department employee. Plaintiff, State Farm, was seeking reimbursement of repair costs and deductible to their insured's vehicle in excess of $7,800. After extensive negotiation, State Farm agreed to accept $5,756.88 as settlement in full.

The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on August 7, 2012.
