TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a second amendment to Lease No. 30190 with the Association for Retarded Citizens-Long Beach, Inc., a California nonprofit corporation, for a name change to the Advocacy for Respect and Choice-Long Beach, Inc.  (District 4)

DISCUSSION
The Association for Retarded Citizens-Long Beach, Inc. (Association), has leased City-owned property at Stearns Champions Park since 1954.  The Association serves the Greater Long Beach area, operating programs for adults with developmental disabilities, as well as providing support and resources for their families.  On December 11, 2011, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine received a letter from the Association advising that the organization was now operating under a new name.  In order to better reflect the work being done in the community, the Association has changed its name to the Advocacy for Respect and Choice-Long Beach, Inc.
City Council approval is necessary to amend Lease No. 30190 in order to reflect the name change.  The City Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved all documentation related to the legal name change.  All other provisions of the lease shall remain the same.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Gary J. Anderson on February 8, 2012, and Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on February 9, 2012.
