TITLE
Recommendation to determine that the application for an original Alcoholic Beverage Control License of Ernest Ray Henson and Christine Tasche, dba Wilmore, at 3848 Atlantic Avenue serves the public convenience and necessity, and request City Clerk to transmit a letter to the ABC indicating such determination. (District 8)
DISCUSSION
On January 24, 2012, the City Council received and filed an application for an original Alcoholic Beverage Control license of Ernest Ray Henson and Christine Tasche, dba Wilmore, at 3848 Atlantic Avenue.
Due to the particular timing of the application, the City Council submitted a Public Notice of Protest to the ABC until the appeal period for the Conditional Use Permit had passed for the businesses. No appeal was filed and the protest to the ABC was withdrawn.
However, because this application is for a Type 42 license, a determination is also required that this business will serve the public convenience and necessity. This determination was omitted in the motion approved by the City Council on January 24.
The Wilmore will be a wine bar, with wine tasting by the glass. It will be a high-quality business benefiting the Bixby Knolls community and entire City.
Council approval of the motion is requested to help facilitate the completion of the ABC investigation and the timely opening of this new business.
