TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $8,500 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled James W. Hurl v. City of Long Beach, et al.
DISCUSSION
This lawsuit arises out of an automobile accident on September 15,2003 in which a Long Beach employee, in the course and scope of his employment, collided with the vehicle in which the plaintiff was a passenger. Plaintiff sustained injuries arising out of the accident.
The case was ordered by the Court to mediation before Commissioner Jeffrey
Castner. A thorough presentation of evidence was made by both sides. The case failed to resolve. Subsequent negotiations between counsel resulted in a tentative settlement of $8,500.00, subject to City Council approval.
