DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to increase the existing Blanket Purchase Order (BPO) with Convergint Technologies, LLC (Convergint), by $350,000, for airport security system maintenance and repair services at the Long Beach Airport (Airport), until a new contract is awarded. Services include routine maintenance and servicing of security cameras and access control devices, repairing and replacing security system equipment, and maintaining the Airport security system.

Convergint is currently providing security system maintenance and repair services to the Airport under an interim BPO that was extended and increased to $400,000 by the City Council on March 13, 2018. More time is needed than originally anticipated because recent procurement efforts to secure a new service contract were unsuccessful. Since then, the Airport has engaged Jacobs, an independent consulting firm with experience in the planning, development and management of aviation facilities and infrastructure, to assist staff with the scope of work and to conduct a thorough review of the RFP specifications. Therefore, an increase in additional purchasing authority and an extension of the BPO term is needed to allow the Airport to continue monthly maintenance for the system, provide for the renewal of annual software costs, and cover unforeseen repairs.
