Recommendation to adopt resolution opposing the continuation of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Inmate Early Release Program.
DISCUSSION
Pursuant to your request of March 22,2005, we have prepared the subject resolution and transmit it with this letter to you for your consideration and adoption. Although the City Council has no authority over the Los Angeles County Sheriffs
Department, the resolution expresses the City's opposition to the continuation of a program administered by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department which releases non-violent misdemeanants from jail prior to the expiration of their respective sentences.
