TITLE

Recommendation to request City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents and agreements to accept funds from the South Coast Air Quality Management District; and increase appropriation in the General Fund Group in the Legislative Department by $5,026.25 to fund Board support, offset by the FY 22 revenue received.

 

DISCUSSION

As Western Region Cities representative to South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Vice Mayor Richardson is provided funding by the SCAQMD Board to fund a SCAQMD Board Deputy to advise him on Board issues and work directly the Western Region Cities. The estimated amount to be received in FY 22 is $53,278.65.

 

A one-time appropriation increase is requested in FY 22 for the Ninth Council District to support existing staff or temporary staff as needed that will be providing Board support, offset by the funds received from SCAQMD in FY 22.

 

Urgency Statement

In order to secure these funds before the Friday, May 20 meetings of the SCAQMD Stationary Source and Technology Committees, urgency is requested for this item.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents and agreements to accept funds from the South Coast Air Quality Management District. These funds will be used to support existing staff or temporary staff as needed that will provide Board support. The estimated revenue to be received by South Coast Air Quality Management District in FY 22 is $53,278.65. An appropriation increase is requested in the amount of $53,278.65 in the General Fund Group in the Legislative Department offset by the revenue received from South Coast Air Quality Management District.  This recommendation has no staffing impact beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is consistent with existing City Council priorities.
