TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file a report on travel to Sacramento to participate in a meeting of the California Mayor's Roundtable on Education on March 26, 2008.

DISCUSSION
On Wednesday, March 26, I attended a meeting of the California Mayor's Roundtable on Education in Sacramento. Mayors from around California assembled in our state's capitol to meet with Governor Schwarzenegger and discuss education. The main topic of the event was how the State's fiscal problems will impact our schools.

The California Mayor's Roundtable is a forum for mayors from the state's largest cities to discuss education issues and take a leadership role in their local schools. Through the Roundtable, the state's urban mayors meet at least twice a year to discuss common problems, hear about lessons learned and best practices, and consider new strategies and approaches for education in their cities.
