DISCUSSION
The California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI) was initiated in 2016 as a public-private partnership. CACHI began offering grants, technical assistance, policy, learning, and evaluation to awarded Accountable Communities for Health (ACH) to address chronic illnesses and community conditions. In 2018, the City of Long Beach (City) was designated as one of thirteen ACH accelerator sites to enhance health outcomes for children ages 0 to 8 years. All Children Thrive Long Beach (ACT) was founded and subsequently expanded using the CACHI framework.

In the next phase of CACHI, the Health and Human Services Department's (Health Department) Racial and Health Equity Team (RHET) will serve as the backbone to increase equity throughout the health system, while elevating community input by establishing a Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB will provide recommendations related to aligning priorities, services, and City-wide initiatives to meet the diverse health and wellness requirements of the City’s communities. RHET consists of seven health equity specialists, focusing on Black, Cambodian, Filipino, Latinx, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
