DISCUSSION

The Uptown Business District is a property-based, Business Improvement District (BID) in the heart of North Long Beach, CA. The Uptown Business District is funded through property-based assessments levied to property owners within its boundaries. All assessments collected are utilized to provide programs and services that benefit district property owners and businesses. The district is situated along Atlantic Ave. and Artesia Blvd. transportation corridors and is home to over 140 businesses.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

[Timing Considerations]

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution of $5,000 to the Uptown Business Improvement District to support their causes as written above.

The appropriation increase of $5,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
