TITLE

Recommendation to direct City Manager and Health Department to provide a receive and file update on the latest changes to the state and local health orders, the status of our vaccine rollout and ER/ICU capacity, and how residents and businesses may be impacted.

DISCUSSION

COVID-19 has brought into sharp focus the need to disseminate accurate and timely information to the public regarding this deadly disease. Both lives and livelihoods are at stake, and the public has a right to know from the city they live in what the current status of things are relative to the Governor’s stay-at-home orders.

To this end, we move that the City Council direct the City Manager and all relevant City Departments to provide an update on COVID-19 related orders at the state and county level, and what they mean for the residents and businesses of Long Beach.

Approval of this recommendation is urgent due to the regularly changing Health Orders and the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
