DISCUSSION
On March 8, 2005, ARINC, Incorporated (ARINC) was awarded a contract for the construction of improvements to the Long Beach Airport's security access control system. The improvements included access control, intrusion detection, emergency telephone and notification systems, alarm and event annunciation, expanded closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, digital video storage intelligent video analytics, improved gate control and enhanced personnel badging. The improvements have been made, and the system has been fully functional since early 2006.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for security of all Airports and, under federal law, provides passenger and checked baggage security screening at the Long Beach Airport. The TSA has identified areas that require additional CCTV cameras to enhance airport security, resolve claims, assist law enforcement and obtain better situational awareness of the airport for all users.
