TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to amend Contract No. 33483 with AKM Consulting Engineers, of Irvine, CA, for as-needed pump station design, operations, and condition assessment services, to increase the contract amount by $500,000, for a revised total contract amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the current term ending June 10, 2018, with the option to renew for one additional one-year period. DISCUSSION
On June 10, 2014, the City Council adopted Specifications No. RFP PW14-008 and awarded a contract to AKM Consulting Engineers (AKM), for as-needed pump station design, operations, and condition assessment services for a three-year term, with the option to extend the term for two additional one-year terms, for a total amount not to exceed $500,000. The contract has been extended once, with one one-year renewal option remaining.

City Council action is requested to amend Contract No. 33483 with AKM, by increasing the current contract authority amount by $500,000, for a revised total contract amount not to exceed $1,000,000. The term period shall remain the same. Since receiving approval of the initial contract, the City has delivered numerous projects requiring pump station design, operations, and condition assessment services. These services range from storm drain pump station assessments, FEMA flood zone studies, and assisting City staff with pump station repair recommendations. The recent passage of Measure A has provided additional funding for pump station projects and an increased demand for AKM’s technical expertise on these projects.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda T. Vu on March 20, 2018 and by Budget Analysis Officer Julissa Jose-Murray on March 19, 2018.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
