TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $22,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Markel International v. City of Long Beach, Case No. 07C01396.

DISCUSSION

On August 25, 2006, a police patrol vehicle struck a building.  As a result of the accident, Plaintiff sustained property damage and incurred repair costs.

During a court-ordered mediation, the parties were able to reach a tentative settlement agreement of $22,000, subject to City Council approval.

The Economic Development  and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on March 4, 2008.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
