TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society in support of the Long Beach Fire Museum; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

The annual Cambodia Town Parade and Cultural festival took place on Sunday, April 2, 2023. The Long Beach Fire Museum participated in the parade by showcasing antique fire apparatus in the parade line-up. The Long Beach Fire Museum is located within Cambodia Town which the parade and cultural festival aimed to highlight. A $500 contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society will support the ability for the Fire Museum to continue participating in this cultural event.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Firemens Historical Society in support of the Long Beach Fire Museum. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease in appropriation of the Fourth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff time beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION
