TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution designating the ballot listing of the candidates which have been nominated for the City’s Primary Nominating Election on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
On October 24, 2017, the City Council adopted a resolution calling and giving notice of the Primary Nominating Election.
With the close of the candidate nomination period on January 12, 2018, the City Clerk is required to submit the attached resolution for adoption pursuant to City Charter Section 1907, which serves to certify the list of candidates who were duly nominated, and identify the order in which their names will appear on the official ballot.
The recommended resolution includes a listing of candidates in the Long Beach Unified School District and the Long Beach Community College District as certified by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Candidates for the foregoing contests are listed in the order in which they will appear on the official ballot.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action at this time will allow the Office of the City Clerk to prepare the official ballot, sample ballot and sample ballot booklet.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Office of the City Clerk budget contains the appropriations necessary for conduct of the April 10, 2018, Primary Nominating Election.
