TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department by $35,000, offset by the First Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to support infrastructure improvements at 14th Street Park.

DISCUSSION

More than two years ago, the City of Long Beach installed K-Rail barriers at Locust Ave., Cedar Ave., and Palmer Court at 14th St. Park. This Council recommendation requests a fund transfer to create permanent parcel closures at those intersections, including curbs and fencing. Additional funds should be used to construct a walkwaylfitness loop that will connect all the parcels at 14th St. Park.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on May 23, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation provides funds to the Public Works Department to support infrastructure improvements at 14th St. Park. The total appropriation increase of $35,000 in the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department is offset by a transfer of First Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. Completing this work is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

LENA GONZALEZ
