TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager, City Attorney and City Prosecutor to review proposal for "Cost Recovery and Abatement of Criminal Nuisances" and report back to the City Council on a potential ordinance.

DISCUSSION
Recently, Citizens for a Better Long Beach (CBLB), an advocacy group, forwarded a proposal for "Cost Recovery and Abatement of Criminal Nuisances" to members of the City Council. It is contended that a small percentage of nuisance properties may be consuming a large percentage of law enforcement and other civic services. In order to address the legality and practicality of this proposal, City Management, City Attorney and City Prosecutor should opine as to the feasibility of CBLB's proposal. These offices should conduct a review to identify best practices from other municipalities that Long Beach could possibly employ for cost recovery.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,
