TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Stipulations with Request for Award for approval by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $25,000 for retroactive temporary total disability, $45,000 for retroactive vocational rehabilitation benefits, and $6,475 for permanent disability benefits for a total of $76,475 for the claim of Ernest Summerall, in compliance with the Appeals Board Order.
DISCUSSION
Ernest Summerall has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on November 11, 2008, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Ernest Summerall, based upon 1)$25,000.00 for retroactive temporary total disability; 2) $45,000.00 for a buy-out of vocational rehabilitation benefits by the City and Ernest Summerall; and $6,475.00 for a 14 percent permanent disability rating with provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.
