DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Go2Zero Strategies, LLC (Go2Zero Strategie), for professional solid waste consulting services on an as-needed basis. The services will aid the City of Long Beach (City) in complying with Senate Bill (SB) 1383, which requires the City to provide organic waste collection services. Specifically, Go2Zero Strategies will support tracking and reporting obligations, minimizing container contamination, conducting route audits, and other duties the City assigns. By utilizing this contract, staff anticipates increased efficiency and streamlined efforts toward successfully implementing SB 1383 requirements.

The Public Works Department, Environmental Services Bureau, researched procurement options for professional solid waste consulting services on an as-needed basis and discovered that other agencies had completed an open, fair, transparent, and competitive procurement process. The City reviewed the contract options and determined that the contract between the City of Ontario, CA, with Go2Zero Strategies provided the best value to the City.
