TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute an amendment to Agreement No. 33801 with Califa Group, of San Mateo, CA, a California public benefit corporation, for the purchase of high-speed data communications network equipment for the Department of Library Services, in a total amount not to exceed $134,000 inclusive of taxes and fees. (Citywide)

DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend the City’s agreement with Califa Group, a California public benefit corporation, for the purchase of high-speed data communications network equipment for the Department of Library Services.

On March 24, 2015, the City Council adopted a Resolution (attached) authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Califa Group for the purchase of/furnishing and delivering high-speed data communications services for the Department of Library Services and to upgrade the network equipment. Califa, on behalf of all their client cities, recently conducted a request for quotes to procure the required network equipment.

The Department of Technology and Innovation investigated alternative procurement options and determined that Califa was able to provide the best discounted price and offered the best value to the City. The Department requests authorization to amend the current agreement with Califa Group in order to acquire the equipment necessary for the Library’s network upgrades.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber on August 13, 2015 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on August 13, 2015.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on September 1, 2015 to ensure in order to purchase the equipment expeditiously.

FISCAL IMPACT
The cost for the network equipment upgrades will not exceed $134,000. Sufficient funding is budgeted in the General Services Fund (IS 385) in the Technology and Innovation Department (TI) to support this activity. There is no local job impact associated with this recommendat...
