TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to West Long Beach Little League; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

West Long Beach Little League serves youth and young people living in the Westside, where they practice regularly at Silverado and Hudson Parks. Youth sports promote physical fitness and teamwork while helping children grow into healthy adults who contribute to the community.

Sadly, the West Long Beach Little League had several items stolen from their supply storage rooms at Silverado and Hudson Parks. Councilmember Uranga intends for this contribution to help West Long Beach Little League recuperate their lost items.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on October 9, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to West Long Beach Little League. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-time District Priority funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to have minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

ROBERTO URANGA COUNCILMEMBER,

SEVENTH DISTRICT
