TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $6,875, offset by the Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to the following:
1) Love Beyond Limits in the amount of $2,500 to support the A Dream
for King Park kickoff event;
2) United Cambodian Community in the amount of $540 to support the
Cambodian Cultural Center Visioning Process;
3) Khmer Parent Association in the amount of $300 to support the 1st
Annual Khmer Community Literacy Project;
4) Cambodia Town, Inc. in the amount of $3,535 to support the 2022
Cambodian Town Parade and Culture Festival; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $6,875 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
A donation to Love Beyond Limits will go towards supporting A Dream for King Park. A Dream for King Park is the kick-off event for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park Vision Plan, co-hosted by Love Beyond Limits. The event includes free meals, opportunity drawings, prizes, and will introduce the community to how residents can participate in the future visioning of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
The United Cambodian Community (UCC) is an experienced community engagement organization that is working with community leaders, a Steering Committee and an Honorary Committee to generate ideas for the operations of the Cambodian American Cultural Center. A donation to UCC will go towards supporting the Cambodian Cultural Center Visioning Process which consists of monthly meetings, subcommittee meetings, key stakeholder interviews, surveys, community roundtables and events, informational workshops, and site tours, from June 2022 through March 2023.
