TITLE
Recommendation to make two new appointments to the Long Beach Public Transportation Company Board of Directors pursuant to Article 3, Section 3 of the by-laws of the Long Beach Public Transportation Company.
DISCUSSION
Donita Van Horik is a Long Beach native and has lived in the City for over 60 years. She currently resides in the 8 t" District. Ms. Van Horik has worked in the Information Technology field for over 20 years and has served as Manager of Information Systems at Farmer Johns Meats and IS Director and Executive Director of Information Technology for Karl Storz Endoscopy-America. She currently owns and operates her own systems consulting practice. Her community involvement includes Long Beach Day Nursery, were she has held various positions; Leadership Long Beach graduate, 2006; and the Long Beach City College Foundation Board where as a board member she has been involved with recruiting and screening of new members and fundraising.
Freda Hinsche Otto has been a Long Beach resident for the past 40 years and currently resides
in the 3 rd District. She has over 30 years of experience in non-profit management. Her
professional career spans over 20 years with positions such as Director of the Volunteer
Leadership Program and Annual Programs at the USC, Executive VP of Major Gifts with St.
Mary Medical Center Foundation, and Assistant Vice Chancellor of University Advancement
with California State University. She is presently Principal of Hinsche Otto Consulting Group.
She is involved with several civic and service organizations, which include but are not limited to
the Long Beach Community Development Commission, past President of Soroptomist
International of Long Beach, Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership, and Catholic Housing Authority.
