Title
Agreement with Long Beach Unified School District to provide radio equipment and systems maintenance and repair services.  (Citywide)

Discussion
The Technology Services Department (TSD) provides installation, maintenance and repair services for wireless communications systems and equipment.  TSD customers include City of Long Beach (City) departments, and outside agencies on a contractual basis.  Currently, TSD "contracts in" radio maintenance with Long Beach Transit, St. Mary's Hospital, Long Beach City College and the City of Cerritos.

The Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) has requested the City provide maintenance and repair services for its Security Division radio equipment.  The Wireless Communications Division of TSD will be responsible for the installation and ongoing maintenance of LBUSD radios and related communications equipment.  Service coverage will be provided twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The proposed agreement is for a term of five years.  It is projected that LBUSD will pay the City $16,000 annually.  This amount would recover all anticipated direct and indirect costs associated with providing the service.

This matter was reviewed by Assistant City Attorney Michael J. Mais on December 23, 2004, and by Budget Management Officer David Wodynski on December 21, 2004.

Timing Considerations
City Council action on this item is not time critical.

Fiscal Impact
The City will recover the direct and indirect costs associated with the service.  The projected annual revenue is $16,000, and will be deposited in the General Services Fund (IS 385) in the Department of Technology Services (TS).

SUGGESTED ACTION
Authorize City Manager to execute an agreement for a period of five years with annual revenue projected to be $16,000.

Respectfully Submited,

CURTIS TANI
DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
