TITLE
Recommendation to adopt Plans and Specifications No. R-6769 for the Rehabilitation of Long Beach Boulevard between Hill Street and Willow Street; award the contract to Nobest, Inc., in the amount of $754,000 and authorize a 10 percent contingency in the amount of $75,400, for a total contract amount not to exceed $829,400; and authorize City Manager or designee to execute all documents necessary to enter into the contract, including any necessary amendments thereto. DISCUSSION
The street infrastructure on Long Beach Boulevard between Hill Street and Willow Street is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work consists of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, trimming and root shaving trees; alley entrances and sidewalks; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; cold milling and resurfacing the pavement; and installing pavement markers, markings, vehicular loop detectors, traffic striping, signing and curb paint. This bid was advertised in the Press-Telegram on July 13, 2013, and 2,242 potential bidders specializing in construction were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 66 sets of bid documents were purchased or downloaded via our electronic bid system.
