DISCUSSION
At its meeting on July 11, 2017, the City Council approved a grant from the Public Health Institute for capacity building through its California Accountable Communities of Health Initiative (CACHI) Accelerator. The Public Health Institute is now awarding the City of Long Beach (City) an additional $1,500 in grant funds, for a combined total of $81,500, to support the Health and Human Services Department (Health Department) to lead a communitywide initiative to develop an Accountable Community of Health (ACH) for children, for the period of June 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019.

The Health Department and its partners will use Public Health Institute CACHI Accelerator funding to implement a multi-agency ACH model for All Children Thrive, which creates a community environment that supports development in children ages zero to eight. ACH models align medical providers, non-profit organizations, communities, and government partners to support the health and wellness of the community. Activities under this funding opportunity may include supporting policies, building a network, developing an implementation plan, engaging the community, and determining performance measures. Funding will be used for the contracting of a consultant to develop the plan, facilitating community engagement sessions, and travel for grant-related trainings.
