TITLE
Recommendation to authorize a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at Ecco's Broasted Chicken Restaurant located at
2125 Bellflower Boulevard.  (District 4)

DISCUSSION
Ecco's Pizza, Inc., the operator of Ecco's Broasted Chicken located at 2125 Bellflower Boulevard, requests a permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk for the purpose of sidewalk dining. This restaurant was previously operated by Steve Eberhardt under the name "The Ceviche Stand". The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A.

Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary use of public right-of-way. The width of the public sidewalk at this location is 12 feet and there are no street fixtures adjacent to the proposed permit area to obstruct the remaining 8 feet of clear sidewalk path.

This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on May 26, 2006. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lori A.
Conway on August 31,2006.
