TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $10,000, offset by the Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to the Naples Improvement Association in support of their Annual Boat Parade; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $10,000 to offset by a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

For 76 years the Naples Island Boat Parade has been an annual Christmas tradition bringing the community together from all across Long Beach to celebrate the holiday season. The fun, music, boats big and small, and the enthusiastic paradegoers will make this year’s Naples Boat Parade a fantastic community event for everyone. The Boat Parade will be held December 10, 2022 in Naples and always brings thousands of people to from all across Long Beach and from throughout the region.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on December 1, 2022.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

Funds are sought as soon as possible because the parade will be held December 10, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a donation to the Naples Improvement Association. The total appropriation increase of $10,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

SUZIE PRICE, COUNCILWOMAN
