TITLE

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $30,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
The City Manager's Office of Special Events and Filming will be organizing the Uptown Jazz Festival on behalf of the Ninth Council District on August 19, 2023, at Houghton Park. The Uptown Jazz Festival is currently in its 12th year and remains a well-attended event that thousands of Long Beach families and community members attend. This event offers a significant opportunity to conduct outreach to the Uptown community around the issues of health and economic recovery. The Ninth Council District will engage in fund raising efforts to support this event. If funds are raised, an equal amount, up to $30,000, of District Priority funds allocated to this event through this recommendation will be returned to the Ninth Council District One-time District Priority funds.

This item is being submitted through the supplemental agenda to allow for timely processing of funds.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation provides funds to support the 2023 Uptown Jazz Festival. The total appropriation increase of $30,000 in the City Manager Department will be offset by a transfer of $30,000 in Ninth Council District One-time District Priority Funds from the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. If funds are raised through fundraising efforts and/or additional costs needed for the event turn out to be less than $30,000, an amount equal to the fundraising efforts up to $30,000 will be returned to the Ninth Council District On...
