Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $10,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Grace Memorial Baptist Church is one of the longest existing churches in the Central Area of Long Beach. During this COVID-19 pandemic, they have been working with non-profit partners, local food banks, and the community at large to convene resources for their congregation and neighboring community in the heart of the Sixth District. They have provided personal protective equipment to the elderly, hand sanitizer, information pamphlets from the City to local businesses, and host a bi-weekly food pantry. For the holidays, they have distributed frozen meats and fresh vegetables to those in need in the Sixth District. This contribution will augment their efforts to serve in the Sixth District.

The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $10,000 is offset by the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. Implementing this recommendation is anticipated to result in a minimal impact on staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
